Domestic Partnerships
California law gives same-sex couples and certain opposite sex couples the right
to form domestic partnerships. People who apply for Domestic Partnerships must live together in the same home.
Neither person can be married to someone else or be part of another domestic partnership.
Same-Sex Marriage Dissolutions
Because the federal government and the majority of state governments do not recognize same-sex
marriages or civil unions, commited gay and lesbian couples from California do not enjoy the same rights as traditional couples.
This can present significant legal obstacles when same-sex couples seek dissolution of their marriage/civil union.
Our office can assist you with regard to your domestic partnership or same-sex marriage dissolutions.
